COMMUNITY BENIFITS
The Applicant, Wind Estate, are committed to ensuring that there is a lasting local community benefit and legacy as a result of the proposed development, should it gain planning consent. Although it is not a planning requirement, the Applicant is committed to ensuring that the Proposed Development creates a lasting benefit for the local community. This will be achieved through an agreed community benefit fund (CBF) equivalent to £5,000 per installed megawatt per annum, for the operational lifetime of the project.
The project is situated in an area covered by Cairnryan and New Luce Community Council
and the project team will have discussions with both community councils to find ways of
administering and distributing these funds that will best meet the needs of the community. Wind Estate are also interested to learn from previous experiences in the area, due to the presence of established, operational wind farms in the area, in order to find out what has worked best for the community. Wind Estate are also committed to committed to the wider vision of High Mark Wind Farm. It is anticipated that the proposed High Mark Wind Farm will provide an opportunity for significant positive impacts to the local economy, through the procurement of local skills, economic spend in the local area and in gross value added (GVA). Wind Estate are also encouraging any interest in increasing leisure and recreational opportunities in and around the Proposed Development if given consent.
